JOY Ministry Mission Statement
It is our desire to empower the disability community with God’s love by:
- Teaching them about Jesus
- Letting them know they are loved and accepted the way they are
- Meeting them where they are mentally and physically
- Giving them dignity and respect at all times
- Challenging them spiritually and educationally
- Encouraging them to develop friendships with others in our church home
Volunteer Opportunities
The only requirement for working in JOYMinistry is to love and accept our children just as they are. You may be just an “ordinary” person who is willing to become an everyday hero in the life of a child. Below are some of the ways to make that possible:
JOY Buddy — As a buddy, you will be partnered with a person with special needs, one on one. Your responsibility as a buddy is to unconditionally love and accept your friend with special needs, keep him/her safe, keep him/her happy, and to help him/her receive the Lord’s message.
Respite Volunteers — You will be partnered with a person with special needs that is attending a respite offered once per quarter. The respite is intended to give parents/caregivers of the person with special needs a much needed and well deserved break.
Administration — As we grow, we will have an increased need for administrative help such as coordinating volunteers for Sunday and Wednesday, respite, and special events.
Teacher — Teachers will work with our students in the JOY ministry that are in a self-contained class, using curriculum adapted for our students with special needs.
Teacher’s Assistant — Our teachers will need help in the classes, teaching about Jesus and spreading JOY.
