Dr. Thomas R. Smiley is currently serving as senior pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church.  He also serves as founder and president of Life with Smiles Ministry.  He is recognized as a popular motivational and conference speaker, and is the author of Runaway Lives: Overcoming Emotional Undercurrents.

Dr. Smiley received his master's degree from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.

Under the leadership of Dr. Smiley, Lakewood Baptist Church has experienced the blessings of God. Since 1990, the average Sunday School attendance has grown from approximately 260 to over 1200. Worship attendance has more than doubled and expanded to two distinct worship venues.
