Are you yearning for Authentic Community?

“And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

And everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.

And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common. And they began selling their property and possessions, and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.

And day by day continually with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,

Praising God, and having favor with all the people.

And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. “                                                                                                                       Acts 2:42-47

  • What is a 3-D Group?
A 3-D Group is a small group of 6-10 people that join together for intentional, purposeful Bible study that focuses on life change and spiritual transformation.

  • Why is it called 3-D? What does 3-D stand for?

The 3-D’s are Dinner, Discipleship and Dialogue. This is the framework on which the weekly meetings are conducted — chosen because it represents elements that were present in the life of the early church as described in Acts 2:42.

  •   What is the Biblical basis for 3-D Groups? Are they Biblical?

The first century church in Jerusalem “had all things in common” (Acts 2:44). 3-D Groups are patterned after this New Testament idea. Through 3-D Groups we seek a common    purpose of deepening our relationship with God and creating authentic community with other believers.

  •   Why does Lakewood need 3-D Groups?

Lakewood needs 3-D Groups to nurture authentic community and the development of   believers within the Body of Christ. These intentional, small groups seek to lead you into   a deeper, personal walk with Christ and encourage you to pour yourself into someone else. As this multiplication occurs, people will come to Christ and grow in Christ.

  • How do 3-D Groups function?

3-D Groups meet weekly, off-campus in individual's homes for at least 2 hours. After    fellowshipping together over dinner, the group devotes themselves to an hour of Bible study and prayer.

  • What age groups are 3-D Groups for?

3-D Groups are for all adults — all ages, all stages.

  • How can I become a member of a 3-D Group?

If you are interested in joining a 3-D Group or would like more information, you can contact Scott Smith at 770-532-6307 or ssmith@lakewood-baptist.com

  • How often do 3-D Groups begin?

  August & January

  • What are the characteristics of a 3-D Group facilitator?
A growing believer who is dependent on the Holy Spirit and is:
Faithful – consistent and responsible
Available – facilitating is a priority
Influential – intentionally influences
Teachable – a hungry heart to learn
Honest – authentic
  •  ·        How can I become a facilitator of a 3-D Group?

First, become a member of a 3-D Group.   If you sense you would like to become a facilitator of a 3-D Group, pray about it. Afterwards, discuss it with your family and group facilitator. If then you believe God is leading you to facilitate a 3-D Group, prepare to be a part of a 3-D facilitator training group.

  • Is childcare provided for my children while my 3-D Group is meeting?

The church does not provide childcare; however, some groups may be structured to incorporate children into Bible study.

  • What literature do 3-D Groups study?

Biblically based, topical studies focused on Christian discipleship.

  • Does it take the place of Sunday morning Bible study?

No. These groups are intended to provide an alternative to Sunday morning Bible study.
