Hello

Greetings from cool Johannesburg.  I am sure that many of you are surprised to hear that from me as most of you know that we are in the middle of summer here.  It has been one of the coolest summers I remember since I have lived here.  We had hot weather over Christmas and New Years but the rains returned and the cool weather with it.

I do need to ask forgiveness for not writing sooner as I just realized I have not written in several weeks.  I do know that you pray for me even when you don’t hear from me frequently.  I have just gotten “hard wired” at my flat so that makes my Internet connection constant instead of sporadic like it was when all I picked up was a wireless signal.

I pray that all of you had a wonderful holiday season as I did.  I had one of busiest Christmas days that I have had since I have been in Africa.  I spent the day at church and with my South African adopted family and close friends.  I do enjoy the warm here at the holidays.  It is fun to be outside and get into the pool when it is warm.  My friends wanted me to make them American Pumpkin Pie so it was fun to share some of “America” with friends.  I do praise the Lord and as far as medical issues with missionaries, it was quiet this holiday with no emergencies.  I enjoyed getting packages and cards at the holiday season.

Our medical office has been busy this past week as most of our Doctors offices reopened this past week.  This time of year in South Africa is summer break, and businesses and Doctors are closed for 2-4 weeks.  I had someone comment that they wish it was like that in America as the focus here is on spending time with family and friends and not making money.

What’s Happening Next?

As I look ahead at the next several weeks, I do ask for prayers for safety and grace as we have lots going on around here.  In this calendar year at least five or more ladies will be here from various countries to have their babies in South Africa.  We are only one of  two countries in Southern Africa that have modern maternity medical facilities for safe delivery of babies.  Pray for us as we minister to these families during this joyous time for them.

February and March bring lots of missionaries to town for two different meetings.  When meetings occur here, that means that our office is busy scheduling and coordinating lots of medical appointments.  We do ask God for wisdom as we coordinate appointments in order for folks to be the least amount of time but still get their medical needs met.

Please continue to pray for the Hospital Visitation Ministry that I go to on Tuesday.  We have had a break over the holidays and resume in another week.  Pray we go and minister to many sick and hurting folks.

Praises

-         Safety as I have traveled all over the city.

-         A wonderful relaxing holiday season.

-         My wonderful prayer partners who pray for me even when I don’t get prayer letters to them regularly.

Prayer Requests

-         Safety in Traveling as I drive all over the city.

-         My coworkers, Sarah and Denise and their health.

-         Missionaries in South Africa as they come to see doctors.

-         My family in the USA as we deal with finances, etc from far away.

-         Upcoming meetings with lots of missionaries traveling to Johannesburg.

As I conclude another “Jabberings”, I am most thankful to God for placing where He has placed me and allowing me to minister to some wonderful folks. I thank you for your support by prayers or financially through the Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

I do pray for many of you who let me know your prayer requests.  I am most thankful for you letting me be a part of your life.
